Green Bay Packers Roster Updates: Havrisik, Banks, and Alexandre's Moves (2025)

The Packers Shake Things Up: New Faces In, One Out in Latest Roster Moves

The Green Bay Packers have made some strategic adjustments to their lineup, and fans are buzzing about what these changes could mean for the team's future. In a series of moves announced by General Manager Brian Gutekunst on Saturday, the Packers have added fresh talent while parting ways with one player. But here's where it gets interesting—these aren't just routine swaps; each move tells a story of persistence, opportunity, and the unpredictable nature of professional football.

Meet the New Kicker: Lucas Havrisik (HAVE-ruh-sick)

The Packers have signed kicker Lucas Havrisik to their active roster, a decision that could pay off big given his track record. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds, Havrisik is a second-year player who honed his skills at the University of Arizona. His journey to Green Bay has been anything but straightforward—a testament to the grit required to make it in the NFL.

After stints with the Indianapolis Colts (practice squad in 2022, offseason and training camp in 2023), the Cleveland Browns (practice squad in 2023), and the Los Angeles Rams (where he played nine games, nailing 15 of 20 field goals and 19 of 22 extra points), Havrisik has proven his ability to perform under pressure. Fun fact: He also recorded seven touchbacks on eight kickoffs during his time with the Rams.

But his story doesn’t end there. Havrisik returned to the Browns for the 2024 offseason, spent time with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad last season, and even showcased his talent in the United Football League, making 22 of 25 field goals for the Dallas Renegades in 2025. Now, he’s ready to bring his leg strength and accuracy to Lambeau Field, wearing jersey No. 35.

Brant Banks: A Familiar Face Returns

The Packers have also welcomed back offensive tackle Brant Banks, signing him to the practice squad. Banks, who initially joined Green Bay as an undrafted free agent out of Rice University on May 2, 2025, has already had a taste of the Packers' system. He spent part of the regular season on both the practice squad and active roster, even appearing in two games.

However, his journey took a detour when the Tennessee Titans claimed him off waivers on October 1—only to release him eight days later. Now, Banks is back in green and gold, ready to prove his worth once again. He’ll be wearing No. 72 this time around.

Saying Goodbye to Deslin Alexandre

In a corresponding move, the Packers released defensive lineman Deslin Alexandre from the practice squad. While Alexandre’s time with the team has come to an end, his departure opens the door for new talent to step up.

Controversy Hook: Is This the Right Move?

Some fans might wonder: Are the Packers making the right call by bringing in Havrisik, given his journeyman status? Or should they have stuck with a more established kicker? And what about Banks—does his return signal a lack of confidence in the current O-line depth? These are the questions that’ll have Packers fans debating until the next game.

What Do You Think?

Do you believe Havrisik has what it takes to be the Packers' long-term solution at kicker? Or is this just another short-term experiment? And how do you feel about Banks getting another shot? Drop your thoughts in the comments—we’re eager to hear your take!
